Join us at Laurier

Being a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

Wilfrid Laurier University is flying the rainbow flag during June in support of Pride Month.

Promoting “diversity and a culture of inclusivity” is a Laurier hallmark. It is embedded in the university’s official statement of Values, Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles and encouraged across the university through Laurier’s Diversity and Equity Office.

“Flying the rainbow flag during Pride Month offers each of us an opportunity to pause and reflect on the struggles that many of our LGBTQ2S colleagues, friends and family members face each and every day,” said Laura Mae Lindo, director of Diversity and Equity. "It challenges each of us to recognize that homophobia and transphobia will only be eliminated when we become intentional in our inclusivity work. That is essence of what it means to build a culture of inclusion at Laurier.”

The rainbow flag will fly at Laurier’s campuses in Waterloo and Brantford throughout the month of June.
